Guenevere Schwien Artist

Painting of Guenevere Schwien in her studio with her lights and many sneaky items that are important to her

Graduated from the Academy of Art University in San Fransico with a Bachelor of Art in Fine Art. At the Academy, she received a traditional painting education with an emphasis on Alla Prima style and painting from life. She mostly studied landscape en plein air and quick studies of figures.

While in college Guenevere worked at the San Fransico Museum of Modern Art and began to be influenced by the photorealist artists, her favorites being Chuck Close and Marylin Minter, which she experienced at the museum. Also during her time in the Bay Area, Guenevere fell in love with motorcycles and began to paint them, you can see those works here MotoPainter.com.

Learning to paint all the shiny details of motorcycles encouraged Guenevere to push herself further in the realist direction. Her series of hyperreal desserts led her to more and more challenging subjects that culminated in her Modern Beauty Series of oil paintings of string lights.

Modern Beauty took Guenevere to new levels of success. She started winning awards and finding acceptance in larger national and international shows.
